Prof., Dr. Ingwald Obernberger is the founder and general manager of BIOS BIOENERGIESYSTEME GmbH, a company active in R&D and engineering in the field of bioenergy. Since 1994 he has headed the research group 'Energetic Biomass Utilisation' at the Institute for Process and Particle Engineering, Graz University of Technology and since 1998 he has been a member of the Editorial Board of the international scientific journal Biomass and Bioenergy. He has published 6 books dealing with thermal biomass utilisation as well as more than 150 national and international publications and reports. Dipl.-Ing. Gerold Thek has worked at BIOS BIOENERGIESYSTEME GmbH since 2000 and since 2006 he has been project manager for national and international R&D projects in the field of bioenergy. His working areas and research activities are mainly focused on production and thermal utilisation of pellets, which has resulted in several publications in this field and formed the basis of this book.

He could still make her want him...

Maggie would never have made the journey to Northumberland to see her ex-husband if it hadn't been for their rebellious teenage daughter. Lindsey had formed a disastrous relationship and Neil was the only person who could help.

Clearly, Maggie's treacherous betrayal some years ago still rankled with Neil because why else would he so provoke and humiliate her? She was ashamed of the fact that he could still make her want him while seemingly remaining detached himself. Surely he must be involved enough to want to help Lindsey - even if he suspected she might be another man's child?

Review: The main couple were not credible as people who had spent many years married and while "explained" there was no credible logic or anything to make the reader truly understand why the heroine had the identity crisis which sparked the failure of the couple's marriage. Communication between the H&H was poor at best and even their joint relationship with their daughter was more "explained" than explored through emotions.

This heroine is so clueless and does not stand up for herself. I was getting annoyed by her lack of understanding what was going on. The hero was just as bad. I can not believe that they ever had a child together when the whole relationship seem to have no trust or communication.

OK-to-Good Material -- Horrible writing and editing

I purchased this book hoping it would help solidify my foundation as an investor. Currently, I am on page 156 of 294 and have really struggled to get to this point. The book is riddled with typographical errors, incorrect formulas and calculations, and LOTS of repetition. The 156 pages I have read probably could have been condensed down to half or even a quarter of the length. I recall one instance where the author said the same thing three different ways in three consecutive sentences. I got it....

None of the investment theory the author talks about is wrong necessarily, but the ideas just aren't as clearly defined or conveyed as in other value investing literature I have read. I think I am going to tough it out and finish reading it, but learning about value investing should be fun and interesting. It is hard to feel that way about a book the author and editors didn't care enough about to proofread.

A Great Introduction For The New Investor

After talking to Scott a fair amount on Facebook, I decided to give his book a try.

Let me say right away that I don't embrace the same investment strategy that Scott does. As founder of www.netnethunter.com, I'm pretty obsessed with net net stocks. That being said, I'm giving this book as detached and balanced of a review as I can.

Scott's book is written for people who are just starting out in investing -- new investors. If you're looking to stat out as an investor, then this book is a good first initial read to get a broad range of terms and strategies under your belt. Scott's writing is accessible and he's able to break down complex concepts into small pieces that are easy to digest.

His focus is mainly on Warren Buffett's contemporary investment strategies and he does a good job explaining them for readers. He also talks about a number of other contemporary investment strategies, such as weighted average cost of capital, but also touches on small pieces of Ben Graham.

Where this book shines is in the talk of investment temperament. This is critically valuable for new investors, and something that's more or less ignored in other investing books despite how critically important it is to your success.

This book is great, but not perfect. If there was a greater breadth (or an equal amount of pages devoted to) a wider range of investment styles, and these strategies were covered in more depth, then it would have been an easy 5 stars. That's not the book he intended to write, though, and for what it is it's great.

Jason's turn

Jason has to return home to see his father who is dying of cancer. The problem is, Jason's dad abused him as a child and believes he is gay. Anita agrees to tag along as his lover. Unfortunately, Jason bears an amazing likeness to the Summerlands. Keith Summerland, a real pain is getting married in his hometown, and Jason is mistaken for Keith. Keith in the meantime has run off with wife of the Master of Charleston. The media makes everything complicated and the Mother of Darkness calls Anita's tiger.
I enjoyed this one as Jason has always hovered at the edges. I wish the reunion with his father had been more realistic.

Worst Book in the Series

I've had this installment of the Anita Blake series in my nightstand for over a year because I grew tired of the reoccuring issues/themes in the last couple of books; pissing contests with police or other law enforcement because she's a woman, guilt over ardeur and inability to control it, repetitiveness of sayings from book to book, as well as within the same book, lack of Jean Claude as a major character, etc. So, finally decided to pick it up after a year of stalling and again found myself disappointed and bored. Same issues occur within this book, except now there's a total lack of storyline. So, this will be the last time I make a Laurell K. Hamilton purchase (not just Anita Blake related, but all other publications also). I would like to finish the series in hopes that the flash of brillance seen in the first couple of books returns. However, I will be borrowing from the library from now on since these books are not worth spending money on.

Not as crappy as the last couple but really just a money grab.

It isn't quite the porno of some of the previous books. There is a lot of Anita sweating over silly crap that goes on for pages and pages. The scary part, yes part, was up to the usual standard, but seemed tacked on. The mother of all vampires makes a brief visit. Totally a drive-by. The entire book felt like "gee, I have a house payment coming up so let's crank out something quick". Very little in character or plot development. Richard shows up pretty much long enough to do an attempted rape and then leave in a huff. Had the, now mandatory, group sex, but skipped most of the details. Well the second one did anyway, thank goodness. Laurell, PLEASE QUIT WRITING PORNO. You have other series to do that crap. Just write the adventure and violence and scary and "how in the world will she survive this". You are the best at that. But when you have Anita whining and freaking out over crap that she did about a chapter back and then silly, detailed sex... Come on. With that said, I pre-ordered Skin Trade. Looks like Edward is back. Loved those. Action, Adventure, not just jerking material. Well, I hope. Maybe I just funded some more of Laurell's fetish wear.

About the Author
B. Ronald Frost is Professor of Geology at the University of Wyoming, where he performs wide-ranging research on igneous and metamorphic petrology as well as ore deposits. He is the author of more than 110 scientific papers on topics ranging from serpentinization and the metamorphism of serpentinites, ocean floor metamorphism, granulites, thermobarometry, the geochemistry of granites, and melting of sulfide ore deposits. He has conducted extensive field research in the Precambrian basement of Wyoming, as well as in Siberia, Greenland, Northern Canada, and the Broken Hill area of Australia. He is the recipient of the Alexander von Humboldt Research Award from the German government. He has been an associate editor for the Journal of Metamorphic Geology and Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta, and currently serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Petrology. He is a member of the American Geophysical Union, the Society of Economic Geologists and the Geochemical Society, and a Fellow of the Mineralogical Society of America. He has taught mineralogy, petrology, optical mineralogy and ore deposits for more than 35 years.

Carol D. Frost is a Professor in the Department of Geology and Geophysics at the University of Wyoming. She investigates the origin and evolution of the continental crust, the provenance of clastic sedimentary rocks, and granite petrogenesis, and she applies isotope geology and geochemistry to environmental issues including water co-produced with hydrocarbons and geological sequestration of carbon dioxide. She is the author of more than 120 scientific papers. She is a Fellow of the Mineralogical Society of America and Science Editor for the Geological Society of America's journal, Geosphere. She was awarded the CASE Wyoming Professor of the Year award in 2001. In 2008 she received her university's highest faculty award, the George Duke Humphrey medal, recognizing teaching effectiveness, distinction in scholarly work, and distinguished service to the university and state. She has served in the administration of the University of Wyoming as Director of the School of Energy Resources, Associate Vice President for Research and Economic Development and Vice President for Special Projects, and she currently serves as Associate Provost.

Concise Essentials at Reasonable Price

This excellent text, less forbiddingly long than many of its competitors, will deservedly become a go-to choice for one-semester undergraduate petrology courses. The book is concise, to be sure, but it is also packed with information. However, one effect of this admirable compression is that, in my opinion, Frost and Frost cannot be recommended for self-study. Students will need the guidance of an expert teacher to benefit from it fully. Those desiring more extended treatments of igneous and metamorphic petrology will no doubt continue to use the superb texts of Winter; Philpotts and Ague; and Best.
Regrettably, the gremlins have been working overtime in the production of this book. There are literally dozens and dozens of typographical and editorial errors, particularly with regard to diagrams and maps (the glitches extend to hundreds if one includes problems with bibliographic citations and the index). Fortunately, most of the mistakes are obvious and will not affect comprehension; the teacher can guide students around the more serious and insidious ones. Such lapses are unexpected in a book from Cambridge University Press. The publisher ought to follow the admirable example of, e.g., Winter in posting corrigenda on a website immediately, and in addition should produce a corrected and more carefully edited printing at the earliest opportunity.
Students and professors will no doubt appreciate the reasonable price.

I would not recommend this.

I had to get this for mineralogy, and this book was assigned for no other reason than one of the authors is a personal friend of my instructor. This book has a number of typos. It has practice activities but no answers in the back to quiz yourself with. The book is oversimplified at some points barely scratching the surface of the material making terrible practice for any sort of test, while other parts will take nose dive into convoluted complicated material leaving you confused assuming the reader has already had higher up mineralogy classes. I had to look elsewhere for help.
