“Morini has accomplished a very difficult task: he explains difficult theoretical issues in extremely clear and lucid language, providing plenty of relevant microlinguistic examples in Italian and English. The theory developed in this book will help translation trainers not only to explain to their students that all translation is essentially manipulation, but also to set more or less clear limits on these manipulations and provide theoretical background for those limits. Thus, after reading this book, trainees as well as researchers will be less prone to fall back on old tricks and habits whenever they get in a situation that is not quite straightforward, as they will learn about the translation act and translation process rather than existing translations or interactions between translation and culture. There were so many things to love about Unbelievable, I don't even know where to start. Lilah, oh Lilah! I love this girl.There's nothing bad about a lil kick-ass in a heroine, either. This girl has a whole host of her own issues to deal with, but she's not afraid to meet them head on and to do what needs to be done to protect the people she cares about. Though (Unbelievable) revolves around Lilah and Cole, all our favorites from the first book are back and better than ever. Seth, Maggie and Booker all have big roles in the story that keep you thoroughly invested in each of them...Jamie Canosa

Sherry did it again! I absolutely LOVED Unbelievable!

Wow! Oh wow! Ms. Gammon delivered yet again like she did in Unbelievable. When I finished reading Unlovable first book in series, I was blown away and couldn't wait to dig into the next one. But as much as I wanted the next book, I didn't think I could love another character like I loved the first two. I'm one of those girls that when I start reading a series I fall in love with my characters. So Ms. Gammon outdid herself. I absolutely LOVED Lilah. She was just as a victim as Maggie was. She was a sweet girl. One thing about Gammon is that she writes very descriptive. So descriptive I can actually see everything I read vividly in my head. And I really enjoyed that about this book, every paragraph I read was a vivid scene.

Unbelievable is Cole's story. If you read Unlovable, then you know who Cole is. Cole is the sexy yet very clumsy doctor. He won my heart with his kindness and his sweetness. He's definitely a guy you have to snatch up if given the chance before someone else does. And that's what Lilah did. She couldn't help but fall for his charm. But will her family history let her keep the new love of her life?

In Unbelievable you get a spend time with the characters and see how they interact with one another. You can feel their chemistry and their concerns. You get to fall in love with Cole like Lilah did. You also get to find out what has Booker over the edge which causes him to behave the way he does. And you get to witness the love between Seth and Maggie.

Unbelievable sucked me in immediately. I knew from the beginning that I liked Lilah and I liked her for Cole. I understand her motives and felt a lot of compassion for her. Deep down inside she's a good person who doesn't know how to disappoint her father. I enjoyed reading how their relationship blossomed. I also enjoyed the back story and reading about Maggie and Seth. I can't wait to read Booker's story, which I'm sure it's next in series. I love Unbelievable as much as I loved Unlovable. I give Unbelievable a 4.5 stars and a definite Good Choice for Reading.

Loved this book!
By My Book A Day
Lilah, aka Delilah Lopez Dreser, has come to Port Fare, NY at her father's request. He wants to exact revenge on Booker and Seth, the two MET officers that killed his sons, but knows that if he shows his face he will be shot on sight. So he sends a disguised Lilah in his place. Lilah knows that she needs to get close to Booker and Seth, but she's not quite sure how to do it. She searches for just the right job, only to have it fall into her lap. She's interviewing for a position at an interior design shop in town when Booker himself walks through the door and asks her to decorate Cole's new office at the hospital. Lilah knows that this is the perfect opportunity to get the info that her father needs. But she soon realizes that the picture that he painted of these men is not accurate. She starts really liking the men and Seth's fiance Maggie. She knows that they can not be the hardened killers and thieves that her father makes them out to be, she knows that she must change his mind, she doesn't want her new friends hurt. There's also Cole, the handsome ER doctor that everyone loves. When Lilah starts to fall for him, she knows that she must get out of Port Fare before everyone she cares for is hurt.

I loved this book! There was plenty of romance, action and adventure to keep me interested. The characters are well written, I feel like I "know" Lilah and all the other characters. I really enjoyed the way the ending played out, in general, I knew what would have to happen, but it still kept me guessing right to the last page. I really can't wait to read the next novel in this series!

This book is the second in a series, but there is enough information given that even if you haven't read the first book, you will understand this one.

I was so happy to be included in this blog tour for Sherry Gammon's new book, Unbelievable. This is the second book in the Port Fare series with Unlovable being the first. Although I have had these books on my "to read" list, I hadn't had the chance to read them yet. Gratefully, Sherry sent me both books so I could read them in order. You could read Unbelievable without reading the first book, but I was really glad I did read the first book before this one. I felt like I got to know the characters from square one. Unlovable was a great read and I loved it.

I really believe that if you have great characters that people can connect and relate to you could put them in almost any setting and have a great book. Some books are plot driven and some are character driven. I would definitely put this book into the character driven bag. The characters have real feelings and emotions that I could identify with. Their dialogue was believable and easy flowing. That isn't to say that the plot was lacking, because it totally was not. I loved the continuation of the story line from the first book and the slow building tension because you just know that everything is going to come to a head and blow at any moment.

After reading the first book I had hoped that we would get to know Cole better. Yea for the starring role in this book! He is such a sweet man, gentle and loyal. I just love him. His personality is in stark contrast to Deliah's forward and out loud personality. It was fun watching them come together.

These were some of my favorite reads this month. I'm a fan of Sherry Gammon and I will be watching and waiting for next books.

More generally, this work will help inform the public about how uncertainty is perceived by key players in one of the most important segments in the whole capital market.

About the Author

Antonio Mele holds a Senior Chair at the Swiss Finance Institute, and is a full Professor of Finance at the University of Lugano, after having been a tenured faculty at the London School of Economics & Political Science for a decade. He is also a Research Fellow for the Financial Economics program at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) in London. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Paris.

His academic expertise spans a variety of fields in financial economics, pertaining to capital market volatility, interest rates and credit markets, macro-finance, capital markets and business cycles, and information in securities markets. His research has been published by top journals in Finance and Economics such as the�Journal of Financial Economics, the�Review of Economic Studies, the�Review of Financial Studies,�and the�Journal of Monetary Economics.

His work outside academia includes developing fixed income volatility indexes for Chicago Board Options Exchange. He is the co-inventor of the CBOE Interest Rate Swap Volatility Index (CBOE-SRVX℠) - the first standardized volatility measure in the interest-rate swap market, designed to standardize and simplify swap-rate volatility trading much in the spirit of the CBOE-VIX� index in the equity market.

Yoshiki Obayashi is a managing director at Applied Academics LLC in New York, specialized in developing and commercializing ideas emanating from a growing think-tank of academic researchers selected for their work's relevance to practice in the finance industry. His most recent projects range from running systematic trading strategies for funds to developing fixed income volatility indexes for Chicago Board Options Exchange.

Yoshiki Obayashi previously managed US and Asian credit portfolios for a proprietary fixed-income trading group at an investment bank. He holds a PhD in Finance and Economics from Columbia Business School.

Ivan Moscovich is an internationally known and acclaimed inventor, puzzler, and artist. He has designed award-winning toys for Mattel, Kenner, Childcraft, Ravensburger, Binary Arts, and other companies, and is the author of the MindGames series and other books. �Mr. Moscovich lives in the Netherlands.

A graduate of Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism, Ian Stewart has reported from more than 40 countries. At the age of twenty-seven, he was appointed bureau chief of UPI's South Asia bureau. He later joined the Associated Press and was named bureau chief of its West Africa bureau in 1998. He lives in Berkeley, California.

About the Author
Professor Mariana Mazzucato (PhD) holds the RM Phillips chair in the Economics of Innovation at SPRU in the University of Sussex. She has held academic positions at the University of Denver, London Business School, Open University, and Bocconi University. Professor Mazzucato is winner of the 2014 New Statesman SPERI Prize in Political Economy and the 2015 Hans-Matth�fer-Preis. In 2013 the New Republic called her one of the '3 most important thinkers about innovation'. She advises policy-makers around the world on innovation-led growth and is a member of the Scottish Government’s Council of Economic Advisers, the UK Labour Party’s Economic Advisory Committee, the World Economic Forum’s Council on the Economics of Innovation; and the European Commission’s expert group on Innovation for Growth (RISE). Her 2013 TED Global talk, with more than 700,000 views.

A Provocative Public Policy Read

I'm writing this the day after the third Republican presidential debate. I doubt any of the candidates read The Entrepreneurial State, but they should have.

This book debunks plenty of myths, most notably that keeping government "out" of the economy is the best way to stimulate growth in three key ways.

First, it demonstrates the ways in which national governments have contributed to the success of today's iconic companies, including my beloved Apple.

Second, it shows that far from "picking winners" improperly as politicians claim, public/private partnerships provide leadership for key sectors of the economy, whether that be national security (where it has been most pronounced) to environmental security (where it is arguably most needed).

Third, it makes the case for an economy based on partnerships in which the state and the private sector share both the risks and the rewards for economic innovation.

I would have liked the book to go even farther and look at the role such partnerships could/should play in an interdependent networked economic system, but it does enough to warrant a read by just about anyone interested in social change, including a peacebuilder like me.

Well written and I learned quite a few things. Large corporations are getting free R & D from US government, and paying very little in the way of taxes. That means taxpayers are subsidizing them. In the 50's that was OK because US Corporations were in the 90% tax bracket. At the time I though a 90% tax bracket to be excessive. At the time I couldn't figure out how they were doing so well while they were paying so much in taxes. Now I know it was because tax payers were paying for the development of new products, and in some cases drugs. Since their tax bracket was so high, it seems fair that the government did so much for them, but now the highest tax bracket is 35% and most company pay only 16% at most..

This report really points out just how much government does for the private sector billionaires---or, conversely, how much these guys take the taxpayer for a ride. From space research to energy research to military research on health/human-technology integration/autonomous operations, etc., the government/taxpayer leads the expensive early research which leads to many "AHA!" moments of discovery. Then, too often, a $$B company like Apple, Monsanto, even Uber swoops in to hire away the research staff and their now-precious ideas. A must read for any student of business, research, consumer activism

A practical must read for anyone that wants to understand themselves better

Either from not writing reviews much or having a difficult time on emphasizing which points are important in this book because it seemed that all of them were, I would highly recommend to read this book for yourSelf. This material applies yogic and other related philosophical principles to everyday life, where they can make the biggest difference, rather than simply in a classroom or some other limited environment.

Never read a book with practical knowledge from east and west. Old knowledge in a serious new age style. For highermanagement a nice combination of insight of mind, body and emotions. A lot of practical models and systeems that you can use the next day in your organisation. Full of figures and cartoons. Very pleasand to read. I use this book as a gift in my excecutive coaching.
